William SWAN b.19 Sep 1793
arrived in Mount Morris after his 1818 marriage to Helen MORRISON b.
30 Mar 1797 and after the birth of his first son, Edwin Palmer SWAN in
Saratoga County NY in August 1821. Second son Hugh Steven SWAN was
born in August 1831, perhaps in Tuscarora NY, according a a present
descendant. William died 1 Mar 1848, at the age of 54 in Mt Morris
and is buried (with a son Hiram who died at the age of 2 in 1838) in
OakHill Cemetery. Another child may have been Frances E. [HAYNES], who appears
with them in the 1850 census at age 16; Frances is the also the name
of one of Helen's sisters.
Widow Helen later married Henry BUSH, widower of Moscow, Leicester,
Livingston County in 1857. She was again widowed when Henry died in
1869 and appears alone in the 1870 Griegsville Leicester census as age
73, and later in the 1880 Caneadea, Allegany County census age 83
living in the household of son Edwin Palmer SWAN. She does not appear to be in the same
cemetery in Caneadea as her son Edwin and his wife Adeline WALTERS who
left Livingston County after their (abt) 1852 marriage, appearing
first in Genesee Falls, Wyoming County in 1860, and later in Caneadea.
